"Prescription:Suicide?" was invited by Ports 1961.
This was their invitation:
U N I T E: FIGHT FOR KIDS
In the past year, there have been more than a dozen international drug regulatory agency warnings issued about the potential for psychiatric drugs to cause hallucinations, violence, mania, heart attacks, sudden death and suicide among our youth.
Only by enlightening parents on risks of these drugs, and informing them of alternative treatments will they be able to make an educated choice for the well-being of their children.
We invite you to join us for an evening of learning more about this important issue and how you can get involved in helping to support a parent?s right to choose. This cause is one that transcends all political, social, economic and religious backgrounds.
Special guest speakers include:
Kelly Preston
Arianna Huffington
Mrs. Vicky Dunkle, Vice President of Parents for a Label and Drug Free Education
Mrs. Lisa Van Syckle, Executive Director, International Coalition for Drug Awareness
Robert Manciero, Full Vision Productions - "Prescription Suicide"
Important Facts:
Today, children 5 years old and younger are the fastest-growing segment of the non-adult population prescribed antidepressants in the U.S. Children as young as 4 have attempted suicide while influenced by such drugs and 5 year olds have committed suicide.
Between 1995 and 1999, antidepressant use increased 580% in the under 6 population and 151% in the 7-12 age group.
Eight out of 13 school shooters were taking antidepressants or stimulants at the time of the crime.
At the current rates of increase in the child drugging market, 80% of the nation?s youth will be taking psychiatric drugs in the year 2015.

Saturday - March 18, 2006 - 7:30pm - Austin, Texas
"We held a public showing of "Prescription: Suicide?" on March 18, 2006 at my church and I was struck by the fact the almost every one of the 30 people in attendance stayed after for the panel discussion and Q & A session. And stayed, and stayed. The discussion went on, without interruption for 1-hour, 20-minutes, then folks stood around and talk informally for another hour! There was the mother concerned that the Prozac she was taking might be passed to her nursing baby through her breast milk, the mom who wondered if there was a down side to her daughter taking a low dose of Prozac which did seem to be helping her set of behaviors that psychiatrists tend to label Asperger's Disease, the school teacher who spoke to how teachers and administrators overtly and covertly coerce parents into putting their children on psychotropic drugs - and all their concerns and questions were sensitively dealt with by our panel which included, among others, a psychologist, a MD, a Social Worker, and a Chiropractor/Nutritionist.
It was enlightening and encouraging to see so much sincere interest in this important topic. But many more need to hear the message that labeling and drugging children is not only wrong on so many levels, but can is some cases like our own, be tragic. So please, arrange to host a public or private screening of this very special documentary film. Spread the word - it may save a life." - Glenn McIntosh, father of Caitlin Elizabeth McIntosh, who died of antidepressant-induced suicide at age 12.

The screening was organized by Gwen Olsen, author of the book "Confessions of an Rx drug pusher". Gwen spent 15 years as a sales rep in the pharmaceutical industry.

100+ people attended the showing and here are a few of the comments:
"The Film is wonderful, the panel was more than I had expected and again helped me learn even more. This is a must see film for anyone taking any SSRI or family member thinking about it. I am just thankful to everyone that is helping get this film
out there. It is time for the world to open their eyes to what is going on with all the SSRI'S being given out to our
children and also adults. I cannot tell you in words what all we went through with our own daughter. If we are able to just save one child through this, it is all worth it. Our daughter Tonya tells me all the time, 'Mom we did it, we are helping to SAVE children all around the world.' Thank you everyone for letting us be a part of this amazing film. This is and has been a life changing experience for our family and with everyone?s help it can save many more lives."
Cheryl Brooks
"Because the film didn't make the cut at South by Southwest, I half way expected it to be less than decent. Boy was I wrong. Everyone involved did an absolutely wonderful job. It is exquisite, from its rich cinematography (or do they call it videography these days) to its haunting score, to the most important part, the stories these families tell. Rather than pushing you to a conclusion, Robert Manciero lets these families guide the way. This is the documentary I've wanted to make for years. Thanks for bringing this film to town." L.S.
"Immediately after the film, several people I had invited thanked us for our courage to share our personal tragedy in order to help others.
Everyone seemed to agree that the message of the film was important to get out.
It was gratifying to see so many people stay and ask questions of the panel. We felt encouraged that over time, society will wake up and realize that the practice of labeling so many of our children as "mentally ill" or "disordered" and giving them dangerous, psychiatric drugs has got to stop. Feeling that we are doing something that might save the life of other children, is frankly what keeps us going.
And www.ParticipateNow.net is a powerful tool to enable anyone to feel they are doing something to save children. We can't thank you enough for making this film."
Glenn McIntosh
The panel consisted of Dr. Breeding, Lee Spiller, Dr. Moira Dolan, The Mcintoshes, Tonya Brooks and Robert Manciero.

Director Robert Manciero was present and had lots of people come to him afterwards telling him how powerful they thought the film is, how it hit them "right in the gut". They liked the wide range of emotions throughout the film. One person commented they really like how they were left at the end to make their own conclusion.
